hi all, i have inherited real nice problem left kindly party! setup simple 2 node hyper-v cluster. working , managed scvmm. the problem made snapshots of file server after built. see going this!! did'nt delete them , no have inherited "case"  see following not nice scenario: csv size 1.8tb. of have file server fixed size vhd of 1tb. have .avhd snapshots. smaller 1 158gb , larger 460gb. scvmm library exists on csv , takes additional 200gb. upshot there mere 65 gb  left free on volume. now know merge process take long time - full weekend effort imagine. what have done far deleted smalled 158gb snapshot using scvmm. means snap stays in situ until vm power down , merge. to question - merge possible limited disk space availble? work has caching etc? don't more storage off partition merge or anything. i thinking of moving scvmm 200gb library vhd off share give total of 265gb free merge of first 158gb .avhd. i advising client involved may take full weeke...

i upgraded (replaced) windows server 2012 essentials windows server 2016 essentials.  on windows 10 client pc launchpad shows blank when opened (instead of showing usual backup, remote web access, shared folders, , dashboard options). i have not found error messages (in event log of either wse 2016 essentials or windows 10 client) seem related problem.  nor have found solution problem (on 2016 or prior version of windows server). i installed hyper-v server 2016 (server core) , created vm wse 2016 essentials installed.  after had updates installed exported copy of wse 2016 essentials (to use backup) , reset windows 10 pcs (which had been connected wse 2012 essentials) , installed wse 2016 essentials connector.  i did 2 windows 10 pcs. after short time noticed on second windows 10 pc when opened luanchpad no longer had options.  i still connect wse 2016 essentials server's shared folders. i checked first windows 10 pc , launchpad working correctly...

hi everybody, i've got bit of situation 1 of customers. this situation, i've got server running 2012 foundation following roles: domain controller (ad), dhcp, dns etc. hostname: server ip: 192.168.4.10 sn: 255.255.255.0 gw: 192.168.4.254 dns: 127.0.0.1 somebody(another company) added entry local hosts file on server. 192.168.4.10 -> portal.mycompany.nl so because of entry overruled server it's name. after entry server roles came tumbling down. the dhcp servername changed portal.mycompany.nl , unable change dhcp settings , unable view authorized server. also dns came halt, services kept on running not able resolve names. the server showed events 404, 407, 408, dns related. i deleted hosts entry , got dhcp , other roles back. dns still broken , needed re-add server address forward lookup zones because local server address "unknown. i had day of work running, company made hosts entry claims it's not possible source of probl...

i have problem of upgrading windows server 2008 standard without hyper-v x64 version windows server 2008 r2 standard or enterrise x64 version. error setup stops is: "windows cannot upgraded because hard disk partition formatted unsupported version of ntfs file system. must restart computer using windows installation disc, perform custom install, reformat hard disk partition, , reinstall existing files, settings , programs. we have windows 2003 server running active directory. current computers running windows 2000 pro , few xp pro. can log roaming profile on server , obtain desktops , outlook configs etc. we upgrading systems windows 7 pro. not seem want connect ad, , when profiles connect via roaming, not synch time. in few cases says created temp profile due type of error. ones log in (seemingly) okay not pull desktops or settings. so far have done following : win 7 pro installed, we have connected computer domain we have setup users going through user applet in control centre , browsing server profiles. this seems work basic setup, when log windows 7 using roaming profile, doesn't work - , haven't had 1 work 100% yet. what missing? server vs desktop? btw, new desktops 64 bit running win 7 pro 64, server , older desktops 32 bit. i believe win 7 pro move office starting make me wonder.   just add more information above ... errors in win 7 machine state cannot copy on ntuser.ini file due lack o...
