hello everybody, we have rds farm of 10+ hosts being used several locations in north america. each location has own printers of course on site need use. printers wide variety of ricoh, hp , several label printer models.  at moment use following approach provide printing our rds environment: -each location has own virtual print server located in same data-center as rds farm site location local printers installed on them -printer drivers on place, outdated, using universal drivers, manufacturers drivers -printers mapped at log on trough group policy, not logon script we see issues on our rds farm, there following: -hung logons, meaning users see message "loading group policy printers..." , never finish -spoolsv.exe growing exponentially (seen 32gb) memory use -server crash -print spooler crashes my question if there best practices on following: -what type of print server use (only one, 1 per location, virtual, physical, print cluster) -what print

i've seen numerous similar threads, can't seem find solution problem: we have many word documents embed objects excel documents. excel documents referenced in same folder word document. all of these files on network drive. time time, these files moved 1 server - creates huge problem, if name of networkshare changes. not take forever open word document because it's looking excel files in path doesn't exist, also, once open, have relink objects. is there way force links relative (ie if in same folder word doc, have no path, file name) , not change? thanks in advance! basically, can't. word's excel links require link fields. link fields use absolute addressing and, unlike other referencing fields, can't embed other fields within them create relative path. workaround use macro, check out solution i've posted at: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/154379-word-fields-and-relative-paths-to-external-files cheers paul edstein

looking best practices others have found worked. here situation: we digitizing our manufacturing process on floor. means each workstation have mini desktop paired touch screen monitor on our network. workers can sign in domain logon info, shared folders, , open according pdf's have assembly instructions. here issue: there multiple people logging these computers. looking way keep space open on computer never fills causing issue. these i've looked , issues: guest logon: great because temp logon, doesn't save files, need on domain , user sign on domain password can keep track auditing purposes. know can turn on group policy allow guest network on domains, not know if allows them use current credentials , access shared folders on domain. group policy: know can create local group policy delete users after amount of days. problem don't want delete users , have create profile when login every week/day/month. running once month nice, issue workflow creates

i trying connect our rds gateway system domain joined pc (not actively in our office directaccess enabled) keeps prompting username/password.  it doesn't ever give error message keeps displaying username/password prompt repeatedly. if in event logs (remoteapp & desktop connections) see following error:   remote application () launched on remoteapp , desktop connection () no stored credentials used single sign on. experiencing issue trying upgrade server. company has small business server 2003 domain controller. purchased new server , installed windows server 2016 on it. have been trying couple days cannot seem new server join domain can raise main domain controller. when go join domain, new server able contact , asks username , password permission join. once enter info, error saying domain doesn't exist or cannot contacted. far have tried many things including: changing ipv4 settings of new server. (the ip address of old server 192.168.1.250) i've tried both hard coding , using automatically, , using old server ip address gateway , ip address on new server. disabling ipv6 add entries host file on new server see domain installing windows updates on new server. rebooted old server add new computer user active directory on old server name of new server. added exclusion never block ip address 192.168.1.247 (address using new server when hard coding disabling

dear friends, i changed virtual servers memory static ram dynamic , gave min , max value. example if server given 8gb ram have 4gb min , 8gb max. since have done this.. started getting warning memory low or warning even. not sure if have done correct or not... because when log server , see memory utilization of virtual server shows 50% used in hyper v console shows used.. or low/warning memory. on monitoring software started getting errors same.. never use cpu pressure warning since have made ram static dynamic started coming....please advise.. and @ last .. if 1 has idea on exchange memory usage have few exchange servers dynamic memory configured , max of 8gb... 1 no user yet ... not showing memory pressure... means should show used os or exchange itself.. nothing in hypver v console ...other same number of users ..one stuck on warning , other on low...please advise thanks happiness always jatin dynamic memory making better use of memory physical hypervisor
