hi, upgraded our webserver windows 2008. rest of infrastructure still on windows 2003. websites using unc paths pointed on file server in windows 2003 server. sites working fine. 2 months ago, development team came me , told me had issue application under development. application working right except part file generated on file server , same file shown on browser. between 2 windows 2003 server, file show in 2 seconds. between windows 2008 , windows 2003, same file show in 9 seconds. if try same file between 2 windows 2008 servers, take 4 seconds show up. at first, though problem related iis. i've tried pretty tweaks found on google optimizing iis. nothing worked. recently, dust out wireshark , ran tests between systems. turned out on 2 windows 2003 servers, smb send data in 1 big spike. communication takes 5 seconds overall. on opposite, same communication between windows 2003 , windows 2008, data sended on 2 differents spikes during 13 seconds. after searching web, i'

hey guys, general question i'm trying figure out best way go optimizing hyper-v performance setup have. in no way enterprise environment type of thing, running standalone server @ home. anyhow, , running ok i'm sure it's not optimal... here setup: server 2012 w/ hyper-v 8-core processor 32gb ram 1866mhz hard drive 1 - ssd 100gb hard drive 2 & 3 - 1tb each in hardware raid 0 i have 8 vm's running on raid drives , os (c:\) on ssd. vms windows 7 pro machines , 1 of them has sql server running on it.  what did made raid drives d:\ partition , in there hyper-v folder houses vhdx files , stuff. snapshots , server backups go external usb 3.0 drive connected server. question (and don't mind purchasing ssd's or hard disks if have to) should configure of different? should have vm vhdx files in own separate directories on different drives or that?  just looking straight forward optimal way of utilizing have it's full potential. can change raid i

i working on correcting past issues/annoyances previous admins performed @ job.  1 of these "annoyances" set lot of group policies settings in default domain policy.  change this. i know can run dcgpofix , target ddp, dcgpofix, understand it, should used last resort. so, question is, there list of settings show default domain policy can use comparison (without creating test domain purpose)? or there repercussions using dcgpofix utility besides loose of our defined settings (which use backup copy comparison)? hi,  i'm not aware of list online. test domain best bet , should easy create - grab server of same os version dcs isn't dc (test server server can restart couple of time do), dcpromo it, export default policies , dcpromo again. if have virtual host, can scratch in couple of hours.   thanks, guy Windows Server  >

hi folks, i have installed online issuing ca running on win2k8 r2 enterprise, , installed web enrollment role service on it. i have duplicated two computer certificate templates (computer & web server) on our dc's, modified them as win2k3 templates, made changes , saved them, published them on ca selecting new -> certificate tempate issue. templates have read , enroll permissions set domain admins and domain computers (my account domain admin). can enroll them using certificates mmc. when connecting https://myca.mydomain.com/certsrv  however, page loads. click on 'request certificate', 'create , submit request ca'. see warning indicating website attempting perform digital certificate operation on behalf, click yes. after doing so, error: "no certificate templates found. not have permission request certificate ca, or error occurred while accessing active directory." i have spent 2 hours searching on error , found @ least 50 people compl
