Does chdsk /r actually do anything on a RAID array?

just small question.  /r switch have actual effect when checking volume part of hardware raid array?  surely raid controller takes care of bad sector management, , abstracts physical disks operating system?

it seems opinions mixed desirability of using chkdsk on raid arrays.  yes, absolutley no!

my opinion is ok, , desirable run chkdsk /f time time on raid arrays.  never ok run chkdsk /r on  raid array.  if suspect physically wrong disks, use utility embedded in raid controller.  should verify raid arrays using raid controller software time time.
