hey guys: i've have updated win2k8 server sp1 , ended weird case of permission issues, can shed light on this? so here's scoope, have win2k8 file server along windows 7 machines , mac os x machines.  after updated server, leopard machines can no longer connect network shares via ip, permission error, when use hostname exmaple smb://server/media works.  weird thing is on leopard machines. note: server not cluster scope fine!  windows , snow loepard machines can access network share without problem, wierd huh..??? hi, as windows 2008 changed (upgraded), check settings on windows 2008 first. try disable windows firewall see if issue persists. meanwhile please provide exact error got when using mac os x access share ip. check if there log recorded in event. you can try share new folder on windows 2008 see if same issue occurs on mac. in addition here article general troubleshoot steps on mac os. check if can help: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1568 shaon shan

greetings! trying lock down start menu on server '08 used terminal services. want "logoff" option on start menu. don't care if it's "classic" or "new" start menu; neither totally want do. have set gpo use "classic start menu", required me use registry change hide users' documents folder on desktop. 2 annoying things still remain in start menu: programs > [empty] and settings > windows security... gives ctrl + alt + del screen allowing them lock workstation or log off. now, if set "new" start menu, "start search" box, , blank profile icon picture don't want , yet again "windows security" thing once again displays ctrl + alt + del screen. any ideas? wab   hi,   to remove programs item start menu, have tested following gp item?   user configurations\administrative templates\start menu , tasks\remove programs item list start menu.   if symbol still persists, please post back.

hi, i have bunch of ws2008r2 running rds. instead of getting ssl certificates of them, i've decided wildcard cert since latest versions can use it. here's problem after getting certificate comodo. i have cert private keys. recovered via 'certutil -repairstore' command. i have use on iis. i have imported [local computer]\personal certificate store. i have use rds gateway manager, ie didn't complain cert, believe it's working. complain end target server i'm connecting that's story. however, when go rds session host configuration, under rdp-tcp properties, there no certificate me choose. , if connect via rdp server, certificate warning because using self-signed cert. the same thing happens when try pick certificate use under remoteapp manager->digital signatures settings. result, can't sign installer packages created. is there missed preventing me seeing certificate appearing under session host configuration , remoteapp manager's dig

i have strange issue gpo not applying pc's in ou. have made gpo computer enabled not user since gpo settings affects computer configuration. in organization, have many departments computers exist in own "computer" ou. example: main department ou "accounting", have sub ou called "computers". in ou, computers in accounting departament exist. trying link new gpo "computers" ou in accounting ou. when link gpo "computers" ou, not apply. logged in client pc, did gpupdate gpresult , not see gpo there. however, when add individual pc's new gpo, appreas while doing gpupdate gpresult on client. have tried enforcing gpo while applying accounting computers ou, did not work. works when specify individual pc's in gpo. thing have noticed that, when apply individual accounting comptuers gpo leaving gpo link accounting computers ou on, gpresult shows gpo applied twice. when remove accounting computers ou gpo , leave individual pc'

got some connection issues.  =)  started when our ad servers moved windows 2008 server.. phased in servers got worse.  happens when connection being opened server using integrated security , goes beyond sql server authenticates active directory (the error along lines of timeout expired).  examples:  crystal reports via odbc (timeout expired errors), sql client, sql server enterprise manager same errors, connecting active directory retrieve groups, same errors.  this happens different boxes interesting thing is intermitent.  if try connect 2 or 3 more times it connect after 2-3 attempts , may continue connect few hours until happens again.  the issue sporadic , cannot recreate certainty.  here's have tried / information: 1.)  using dotted ip address , specifying port in case it's name resolution issue (would mitigate it?.. assumed so). 2.)  telling odbc driver use tcp instead of named pipes. 3.)  firewalls off on our sql server's in question. 4.)  have router acl's in p

we're moving customers user state virtualization using rup (roaming user profiles) , redirected folders. customers freshly start out usv @ first logon computer, works fine. customers move usv after have profile, these event log errors created. prior usv, rup not used & appdata redirected path (see below), start menu not redirected out of appdata. all other redirected folders working fine. include mix of redirected folders location changed , freshly redirected folders. redirected folders, prestaged data in new location and cleared csc (client side cache). appdata, never work i'm trying rely on policy move data. permissions on directories fine. we've tried creator owner having full control no avail. know setting owner , forcing inheritance of owner , acl, i'm doubting permissions problem... said, i'm stuck. can't figure out what's happening. "the system call level not correct" seems key message in error, can't find through searches
