hi folks i'm working in 2003 domain environment group policy redirecting users documents file server. understand default behaviour of redirected files synchronize using offline files feature of windows. some users have reported me machines have started synchronize other users folders under user share can increase time taken , result in failures. note not users synchronized machines have gone ary. users reporting fault synchronizing 1 or 2 other folders, seemingly selected @ random. these need not have been folders of people have logged machines before. there doesn't seem setting control behaviour , solution i've found rebuild of affected system. there group policy supposedly shuts off automated syncing of redirected folders point blank doesn't work. anyone seen before advise me? hi, on affected system, please logon user account , go offline files, check if other folders (which should not sync) listed in "view offline files". if so, check the securit

i've created storage pool data, consists of 10 3tb drives and one 2tb drive, connected through 2 raid controllers, set raid 0. (they're dell controllers on t310 server, don't give me option of bypassing raid interface completely). created 2 storage spaces, each 50tb, 1 two-way mirror , 1 parity. i've copied 15tb of data on in total, using total 19.7tb capacity - 15.6 in parity , 4.05 mirrored. everything fine @ first, disks got fuller, began encounter frustrating problem, has gradually gotten worse. when copying data drives, volume disappear file explorer, , dashboard throw error "one or more drives not functioning , offline". if enter "manage storage spaces" ui, see "error" rather "okay" on space using, every physical drive still says "okay", , provides me no options troubleshooting. after error occurs, hdd lights on external drive enclosure blinking away though writing data - stops after few minutes. if attem

i have large hyper-v 2012 r2 host server many fc raid storage unit (san) physically connected it. storage unit formatter in ntfs filesystem well. large capacity raid, 10 tb (the smaller) 35 tb (the larger), total capacity around 65 tb overall. on hyper-v host have few virtual servers (all 2012 r2 std) , 1 main business file virtual server, on hyper-v host did create few vhdx volumes physically located on raid storages , attached virtual server (guest os), according microsoft best practice hyper-v (no physical attach virtual guest os). working fine , quick no problem. did observe microsoft recommendation on vhdx, main "production" volume, did fixed size vhdx (15 tb) , archives volumes (low access), leave them variable vhdx. now getting bit confused regarding microsoft best practice ntfs filesystem free space management... because in 1 hand have de physical raid disks ntfs , have virtual vhdx ntfs too. during initial setup (on "test lab"), created test vhdxs

i trying figure out happen if have 2 servers in hyper-v cluster, both of running windows 2008 r2 sp1 , using dynamic memory.  what happens if 1 host fails?  will hyper-v on running host reduce amount of memory it's running vm's allow new vm's (migrated failed host) start? here example: host1 (32gb ram): app1 (startup ram: 4gb, max: 15gb, current 15gb), app2 (startup ram: 4gb, max: 15gb, current 15gb) host2 (32gb ram): app3 (startup ram: 4gb, max: 15gb, current 15gb), app4 (startup ram: 4gb, max: 15gb, current 15gb) now, if host2 fails, host1 try start app3 , app4.  but won't have enough memory because app1 , app2 using 30gb of 32gb physical ram.  will reduce amount of ram used app1 , app2 can start app3 , app4?  or necessary (or idea) reduce max memory on vm's there enough free physical memory in host startup vm's failed host? i hope makes sense someone.  the possibility of using dynamic memory on 2 node cluster eliminate need have double amount of
