whenever user using firefox while logged on win 2k3 terminal server types c: in address bar can see list files , folders of complete c drive , can navigate cannot open file. have changed security permissions of d drive avoid problem user has use applications installed on server's c drive cannot restrict him tightening security settings :( second problem windows explorer. keeps on saving important ip addresses accesses different services , applications differnet network locations. if accidentally or deliberately user types in first digit of ip addresses whole auto complete list populates disclosing ip scheme.   how fix these problems? hi, i tried gpo , firefox , understand problem. maybe can use gpo firefox solve https://addons.mozilla.org/sv-se/firefox/addon/51892/  i haven't looked @ myself. i have 30 dcs server 2008 r2 sp1.  i'm experiencing memory leak across board.  committed memory keeps growing. page file % used counter goes well.  i've tracked leak specific pid (svchost.exe), , split out separate pids.  have determined leak in group policy client service (gpsvc).  when run gpudate repeatedly, can watch committed bytes increase, otherwise memory increases on gp refresh interval (5 min)  after 10-12 days we're in situation need reboot dcs improve performance.  @ 30 or days become unresponsive. researching issue, find there exact problem 2008 r1.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958089 i have applied enterprise rollup kb2775511 , 3 required hotfixes single no change.  i've been through list of hotfixes 2 008 r2 sp1 , don't see match. this happens on physical dcs , virtual dcs. any appreciated! thx! joel can run gpresult, , watch gpo got applied dc ? suspect bad gpo applying. on other side, use deleguated account manage ad ?

hi guys something strange appears have happened morning. we use wsus keep windows servers date , have group policy set servers check updates @ 7am on sunday. our downtime window every 3rd sunday tend approve unapproved updates on thursday/friday beforehand , servers check updates , reboot if necessary on sunday expected last week told our security team needed patch kb2992611 urgently. went ahead , set update approved , set deadline of 16/11/2014 @ 7am. on sunday afternoon ran report against kb2992611 , saw servers had reported had been installed successfully. however, i've come in morning , several servers have rebooted @ 7am today. having checked wsus looks kb2992611 has been released has release date of 18/11/2014. update had deadline set 16/11/2014 why servers rebooted? if true mean if updates rereleased after deadline has been set servers reboot? can imagine can't allow servers reboot outside of our downtime need clear deadline set on installed updates

hello. i have spare wireless router (from when upgraded wifi router/broadband modem combo) want set second wlan upstairs. want attach computer running server 2012 standard, connects internet using wifi, has spare ethernet port on back. plug in , share ethernet connection, , doesn't work. share wifi connection, , doesn't work. use third party software, , works 5 minutes, stops no reason why. try use dhcp scope, , wireless router assigned ip address (i used 172.16.0.xxx start with), unable connect internet through it, main network (the 1 computer uses it's internet connection. there i'm doing wrong, because when share internet connection on ethernet using computer running ubuntu, works fine no additional setup whatsoever.  if did work, hierarchy go this:  device -> wifi router -> server 2012 pc -> main wifi router/modem combo -> isp -> website. thank you! much simpler method plug access point directly router extend network. can work th

hi all, i've been getting little frustrated trying fix hoping please help. i have 7 servers in 2 namespaces , replica groups (4 servers each, 1 server overlaps) replica group1=[server1a, server1b, server1c, server12] , replica group2=[server2a, server2b, server2c, server12]. (each replica group on server12 on separate volume. this past weekend server12 had nic flake out. had uninstall , reinstall drivers. ever since have found server1a , server2a (the masters in full mesh) not sending or receiving replica information other 3 servers. other 3 servers replicating fine 1 (including server12). server12 common thread between 2 replica groups , cannot figure out why primaries on both groups has stopped. my staging space 32gb , on separate drive on 600gb free i have: - rebooted servers (not @ same time) - ran dfsrdiag polladd - ran diagnostic reports - no errors - checked event viewer, system, application, , dfs logs - no errors - ran dfsrcheck.exe - no errors -

just fired first 2008 r@ box , getting ready roll out ad.  first thing doing moving static ip dhcp.  anyway first new pc put out in network gets 172.16.105.1, should.  next pc xp box had static ip of 105.4.  removed settings , rebooted. when ity logs in teh dhcp server give 105.4, have no 105.2 or 105.3 in use statically or leased server. ace, correct console not showing 105.2 or 105.3.  no pcs have addresses configured statically, scanned solr winds own sanity.  tried again pc 105.5, , grabbed 105.5 dhcp not 105.2 hoped. found article on ms using netsh int ip reset. did ipconfig /release , netsh int ip reset command on pc started 105.5, , guess dhcp gave 105.2.  leads me believe old static ip of these workstations being written registry in dhcp key? hi folks- in failover cluster manager, when node "current host server", imply?  doesn't affect me, i'm more concerned node owns specific cluster resource.  however, multi-subnet clusters, cluster ip change depending on node current host server. i have dell poweredge 840 server running server 2008 r2.  it not in domain.  all computers , server member of "workgroup". i'm upgrading new dell t110 server.  i purchased windows server 2012 r2 essentials avoid having pay licensing every 5 users. we have 6 node file server cluster running on windows 2012 r2. part of our migration legacy cluster, need retain old resources names. using client access points (caps) seems perfect fit this. on 2012 r2 cluster, roles have been created using names not in use on legacy cluster (call 1 of them newrole1). storage, have created small root disks. call 1 of them newroot1. consider default cap.  larger san disks mounted folders on root disk. each folder corresponds resource on legacy cluster. call 1 of these folders legacyres1. i can create cap on 2012 cluster same name resource on legacy cluster (once delete old resource). @ point have 2 caps under role newrole1 - newroot1 , legacyres1.  in failover cluster manager (fcm) can create number of shares available under newroot1 cap, when try create share under legacyres1 cap, wizard substitutes newroot1 instead, no way change it. has encountered this? seems bug in 2012 r2 me, can't find on it. this user error. for else doing
