no need move data new location. here did:
1. made sure following gp options, redirected folders, enabled:
under settings tab enable "move contents of documents new location" , under policy removal enable "redirect folder local userprofile when policy removed"
2. make sure client computer have these new gp settings enabled , have restarted once @ least. gave 2 day grace period after changing policy.
3. change excisting folder redirection policy (as same 1 made changes in step 1) redirected folder new server. make sure have created base folder structure , share accept new redirection beforehand.
what happen clients data automaticaly move new server , in cases goes wrong should find user's data on old server or local userprofile. make sure if have copy user's data manually due automatic redirection not working - user computers logged in respective user account file security gets applied correctly when copying files new folder redirection location.
let me know if need more details or screenshots. can test out creating test ou , sample policy , place test user account in it.
