Folder and files missing after VSS runs on Win2003 file server with ABE

multiple users "working offline" message file synchronization services , cpu ramps 100% due explorer , system processes.  if user selects synchronize receive error server being unavailable but synchronizes , cpu usage drops.  server , other resources pingable during time.  have found correlates user having file open file server when vss executes (currently every 12 hours; 4 hours).  folders and files missing user shares , user must logoff\logon them back.

server:

win2003 standard r2 sp2 patched microsoft update

access based enumeration installed

shadow copy configured every 12 hours (was every 4 hours)

workstation:

windows xp sp3 patched microsoft update

thanks in advance!

hi,

as far know, vss blocks temporarily i/o operations when creating shadow copies. what’s type of file user opened when issue occurred? try open txt file , start vss manually test.

if possible, try test on 2003 server check if problem reproducible.

thanks.
