hey guys: i've have updated win2k8 server sp1 , ended weird case of permission issues, can shed light on this? so here's scoope, have win2k8 file server along windows 7 machines , mac os x machines.  after updated server, leopard machines can no longer connect network shares via ip, permission error, when use hostname exmaple smb://server/media works.  weird thing is on leopard machines. note: server not cluster scope fine!  windows , snow loepard machines can access network share without problem, wierd huh..??? hi, as windows 2008 changed (upgraded), check settings on windows 2008 first. try disable windows firewall see if issue persists. meanwhile please provide exact error got when using mac os x access share ip. check if there log recorded in event. you can try share new folder on windows 2008 see if same issue occurs on mac. in addition here article general troubleshoot steps on mac os. check if can help: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1568...

got some connection issues.  =)  started when our ad servers moved windows 2008 server.. phased in servers got worse.  happens when connection being opened server using integrated security , goes beyond sql server authenticates active directory (the error along lines of timeout expired).  examples:  crystal reports via odbc (timeout expired errors), sql client, sql server enterprise manager same errors, connecting active directory retrieve groups, same errors.  this happens different boxes interesting thing is intermitent.  if try connect 2 or 3 more times it connect after 2-3 attempts , may continue connect few hours until happens again.  the issue sporadic , cannot recreate certainty.  here's have tried / information: 1.)  using dotted ip address , specifying port in case it's name resolution issue (would mitigate it?.. assumed so). 2.)  telling odbc driver use tcp instead of named pipes. 3.)  firewalls off on our sql server's in question. 4.)  have router acl's in p...

we're moving customers user state virtualization using rup (roaming user profiles) , redirected folders. customers freshly start out usv @ first logon computer, works fine. customers move usv after have profile, these event log errors created. prior usv, rup not used & appdata redirected path (see below), start menu not redirected out of appdata. all other redirected folders working fine. include mix of redirected folders location changed , freshly redirected folders. redirected folders, prestaged data in new location and cleared csc (client side cache). appdata, never work i'm trying rely on policy move data. permissions on directories fine. we've tried creator owner having full control no avail. know setting owner , forcing inheritance of owner , acl, i'm doubting permissions problem... said, i'm stuck. can't figure out what's happening. "the system call level not correct" seems key message in error, can't find through searches ...
