Can't Join Windows Server 2016 to Domain
experiencing issue trying upgrade server. company has small business server 2003 domain controller. purchased new server , installed windows server 2016 on it. have been trying couple days cannot seem new server join domain can raise main domain controller. when go join domain, new server able contact , asks username , password permission join. once enter info, error saying domain doesn't exist or cannot contacted. far have tried many things including:
- changing ipv4 settings of new server. (the ip address of old server 192.168.1.250) i've tried both hard coding , using automatically, , using old server ip address gateway , ip address on new server.
- disabling ipv6
- add entries host file on new server see domain
- installing windows updates on new server.
- rebooted old server
- add new computer user active directory on old server name of new server.
- added exclusion never block ip address 192.168.1.247 (address using new server when hard coding
- disabling firewall on both servers.
- uninstall unnecessary roles on new server don't interfere.
dns issue, since i'm able ping old server , domain not join. have tried many things work dns issues though , have had no luck.
thanks,
mr. hudson
