Terminal Server 2008 : More than one TS CAL (per device) is issued to the same machine


hello,

the ts licences manager shows 2 temporary cal same machine.

another machine has been issued permanent cal temporary cal hasn't been removed.

what can wrong ?

from description, understand ts licensing server issues 2 temporary cal same machine.

 

based on past experience, problems caused following reasons:

 

1.       different machines using same name.

2.       same machine got cal once , re-built , due new installation got new hardware id , when connected again ts server got cal.

3.       ms licensing registry key manually deleted , due client got new hardware id.

 

since windows 2000 sp3, behavior of deciding license expiration period changed. expiration period random number of days between 52-89 days of issuance. when client connects terminal server, date checked. if expiration within 7 days, terminal server connects license server , renews ts cal token, giving expiration period of 52-89 days. more information change, please refer to:
