Upgrade from Win Server 2003R2 to 2008R2 breaks SQL 2005 Reporting Services

upgraded 64-bit xeon server (domain controller) winsvr2003r2 ee winsvr2008r2 ee, no problems upgrade process -- ad functioning should.  however, instance of sql server 2005 reporting services installed on server fails "error -- underlying connection closed:  could not establish trust relationship ssl/tls secure channel."

this internal site; access via http on port 80, no ssl.  i assume "secure channel" referred between winsvr2008r2 server , sql server box houses database, i'm not sure.  in poking around solution inspired reinstall existing ssl cert on new server, didn't help.

i'll grateful ideas.
