i came across odd manifestation of uac today. it's been long time since i've had set cifs shares using local accounts authentication, having had domain-joined computers, that's had set today for file sync involving servers from untrusted domains.  i created local accounts on remote windows 2003 server, remote windows 2008 r2 server, , windows 2008 r2 server logged on to, , added account administrators group on each machine.  each account of course had same name , password.  on each remote server created share on administrators had full control , users had read access.  i logged on local machine account created , access share on each remote server without being prompted credentials.  write share on remote windows 2003 server, on remote windows 2008 r2 server allowed read access.  logged on local machine domain account in administrators group on remote windows 2008 r2 server , able write share.  once turned off uac on ...

i not sure post this, maybe more adequate put virtualisation forum. in process of planning hyperv based cluster. there 2 windows server 2012 r2 standard virtualisation hosts running 1 highly available virtual machine. after time might add more vms. use starwinds solution iscsi based ha storage. both of physical servers have 4 nics. our plan configure nics this: nic1 - lan + heartbeat + cluster network / iscsi traffic (use different ips separate iscsi traffic network activity) nic2 - lan + heartbeat + cluster network / iscsi traffic (use different ips separate iscsi traffic network activity) nic3 - starwind sync data between hosts nic4 - starwind sync data between hosts i aware of windows server 2012 r2 networking teaming features , planning use those. also, 2 switches used. nic1 , nic2 teamed togteher team1, nic3 & nic4 team2. nic1 and nic3 connected to switch1, nic2 , nic4 switch2.  client computers would have 2 nics aswell, ...
