Why can i not migrate VMs between separate clusters in the same domain?

i have 4x hv 2012 r2 clusters of 3 hosts each.

each 3 node cluster site in ad forest in same domain

if try live migrate server or quick migrate can select other nodes in particular cluster in. if switch guest server off , try , migrate storage access denied errors.

if remove guest clustering , use hyper-v cannot either - access denied errors

the way able either locally host (not enough disk space) or create whole new file share permissions hosts having given share , ntfs permissions. doesnt seem right. requirements/caveats exporting hyper-v , hyper-v clusters?

thanks

you can't directly live migrate across cluster boundaries because cluster can operate on roles owns , can involve members of own cluster. live migration style function of failover clustering, not hyper-v.

to achieve goal, need use non-clustered shared nothing live migration process, requires security , configuration changes enable. 1 that's done, remove source vm's ha resource current cluster, perform snlm host in target cluster, set vm ha in target cluster. can target storage location target host has access when perform migration, these space issues you're having should non-issue once permissions correct.

if you're asking export/import, that's entirely different process live migration.
