NTFS permissions on a 2k8 Workgroup File Server in a 2k3 domain
i have win2k3 native domain @ work, , have been supplied win2k8 server use network share. however, organization requires able use granular permissions on portions of share. not permitted join new server domain. (for configuration control reasons - satellite organization must maintain paralel sister installations)
as expected, can remote server domain, , access servers share. of course when accessing share, user prompted credentials, , must supply credentials on 2k8 fileserver.
as test, using workgroup networking knowledge have not had use in years, created copy of own account domain on local 2k8 server, same p/w on domain. when trying access share, presented "the account has been locked out", , sure enough, when remoting 2k8 machine, see account locked. local 2k8 account lock each time attempt access share domain account.
my issues these:
-why local version of account lock?
-what best way migrate of (several hundred) domain users 2k8 machine? have considered utilities ldifde, don't have experience it, , don't know if it's results can uploaded sam.
thanks in advance help/advice.

hello,
generally accounts getting locked because of bad passwords or workstations/systems in domain affected virus. check server event viewer (security) , check cause of account lockout or virus affected systems, if identified workstation/system affected virus remove workstation network, scan , put in network once cleaned virus. if any?
