Memory Limitation and Virtualization


hello,

 

i planning on deploying virtual server 2 os'es replace aging boxes.

the host os windows 2003 std (r2) , virtual os's windows 2003 std (r2). client not have funds enterprise server purchase.

since host os windows srvr std can address 4 gb max, mean can allocate max 4 gb between 2 vm's or can each vm instance address 4 gb if have 8 gb of physical memory on box?

hi miguel,

with windows 2003 standard version (32bit), total size of memory can recognized 4gb (maybe 3.5 or less available). may not able workaround it.

some versions of windows server can support more 4gb memory. please see list in following article.
