DFS Replication groups on Domain Controllers still using FRS for SYSVOL replicaiton
our 2008 domain controllers (dcs) still using frs sysvol replication. we have older 2003 file servers hold namespace roots on them. i hoping move these roots on dcs, , create dfs replication groups (dfs-r) namespace roots. so namespace servers root 2008 dcs , dfs replication groups have 2008 dcs replicated members. since sysvol on dcs still being replicated frs, need frs service still running on dcs. i think looks fine, , dfs replication service , file replication service both run on dcs. the dfs replication service used replicate namespace roots, , file replication service continue replicate sysvol.
additionally, have older servers under namespace root still using frs replication replicate folders. if move namespace roots on dfsr groups on 2008 dcs, i'm assuming frs groups on these older servers not affected in way.
can see problem proposed setup?
hi.
if have domainbased namespaces can add more namespace servers. , disable , remove old namespace servers.
no need dfs-r.
