Adding domain user to local group fails

 

hello,

 

i have domain setup , have 2 computers in domain (basically doing moss dev , trying setup). during moss configuration tries add 1 of domain users local group on 1 of machines , fails. if try doing manually following error:

local users , groups
---------------------------
the following error occurred while attempting save properties group wss_admin_wpg on computer mossweb:

a member not added or removed local group because member not exist.
---------------------------
ok  
---------------------------

this after browse user , correctly displayed in add dialog. when hit ok or apply error pops up. can add them other local group, wss groups have issues.

 

any ideas?

based on research, typically error message "a member not added or removed local group because member not exist" may result varieties of incidents such duplicate sids. critical error may need re-install or newsid os.

 

by way, mean no domain users or domain groups can added member of wss_admin_wpg group? how works when try add domain user other built-in groups iis_wpg, sps_wpg, sts_wpg, sps_query?
