Driver support for Hyper-V guests? (NIC card problem)

i have 2008 x64 r2 hyper-v installed.
i using single built in gb nic (realtek 8111c chipset) , after using manufacturer drivers server 2008 recognize nic , works fine.

as first test configured new virtual image , loaded sbs 2003 r2 , surprise nic card not recognized.  did research , did not find server 2003 listed supported os neither server 2008.

this leads me questions.  host drivers need support virtual or virtual need it's own set of drivers?  , know if can nic have work sbs 1003 virtual?

thanks in advance...

the operating systems run within virtual machines need nic drivers provided integration components (these referred vmadditions under virtualpc , server, or vmtools under other vendors).

if give vm synthetic nic integration components required.  if give oyur vm legacy nic, there compatibile drivers included within windows os.

you can install integration components hyper-v manager opening console of vm, select action -> insert integration services setup disk.  within opperating system of vm, auto-run should launch installation of components (you must logged intot vm admin of course).

hyper-v has 2 layers, hypervisor (which don't see guy , owns hardware), , parent partition (this operating system see @ console).

the parent serves traffic cop , support system vms.  keeping them in line.  level install special drivers need.

also, there no requirement install special drivers device unless there advanced feature require not provided drivers included hyper-v.  or, if hyper-v not include drivers device @ all.
