can ping server hostname but not ip (server 2008r2) server unreachable

i've lost access server.

i can remote machine on lan , ping servers hostname not it's static ip. result = 'destination host unreachable'

if user tries open mapped drive located on server states:

an error occured while reconnecting l: \\servershare. microsoft windows network: local device name in use. connection has not been restored.

i can nslookup server lan shows servers ip per below:

c:\users\joe.bloggs>nslookup servername
dns request timed out.
    timeout 2 seconds.
server:  unknown
address:  192.168.55.250

other notes:

the dns entry on server static ip of server . happened last week , after restarting dhcp , dns services on server resolved.

in morning can log server , restart services should @ dhcp configs?

more importantly there way restart these services on server within lan on client machine admin rights?

t.i.a

sorry guys...jorge - ips changed , incorrect due fault on part (late night). after restarting dns service came , moved on task.

if happens again on server i'll document first before posting....thanks support though
