Intermittent external DNS name resolution failure

i experiencing unusual dns failure.  have 2 separate networks both utilizing windows 2008 servers.  networks separate point use different routers.  both routers connected same t1 unique ip addresses.  worked fine until 30 days ago.  sporadically pcs (on network only) can not connect internet sites.  there not appear issue internal name resolution.  no 1 has had problem logins, shares, etc.  failed machine can reach internet after few attempts.  restarting machine restore internet access.  more manipulation required restore access once has been restored machine continues function.  once machine fails, ping can not resolve name if ip address know can pinged and the browser display site.  network consists of xp sp3 clients (about 50) current patches.  while 1 machine failing others work fine.  there 2 windows 2008 domain controllers proving dns service network.  taking 1 server @ time out of service had no effect. dns server test completes every time.  router has been replaced.

very strange based on description.  may want capture packets "failing" workstations see if the dns packets leaving workstation , if response being received dns server.  may shed light.
