ok have basic knowledge of windows server os's. have hp pavillion 20 touchsmart pc trying use quickbooks point of sale pc small resale business. have comcast business class internet. downloaded evaluation version of windows server 2012 essentials r2. want use because understanding far more secure windows 7 pro. went through server install , entered information business @ first startup , that's it. did not change other settings. have computer direct connected via ethernet cable router , not connect internet. tried connecting directly modem see if maybe router issue getting same error. have other computer running windows 8.0 connected router via wifi , working fine. disconnected wifi on computer , plugged in cable directly laptop , able connect internet. did research on web , stated if under command prompt ip address started 192.168.x.x computer assigning ip address , not router , meant issue computer not internet connection. figured seeing how laptop using internet connection right now, internet connection fine. told issue drivers went , tried numerous drivers different sites (no 3rd party though) ie. hp , atheros. used popular software called "driver pack solution 13" , had several drivers updated including wifi. not going using wifi connect web non issue fact not showing networks in area. need direct connect working however. when run network diagnostic tool says "your dns server might unavailable". sees dns because under ipconfig settings showing "wp.comcast.net". don't have other options here know there settings in os may need changed. have have , running tomorrow. if there server guru's out there please help!!! thank you!
my guess router not handling dns forwarding correctly.
