2008 TS Licensing server with 2003 TS user CALs?

can setup 2008 ts licensing server , install 2003 ts user cals on it? terminal servers on going remain on 2003 time being. 

i know have deactivate/activate clearinghouse.

because license server can give out downlevel ts cals.

not work other way around, meaning, 2003 license server cannot give out 2008 ts cals.   see reference: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=839878
