NET SHARE; /grant parameter not working

i'm trying set server core 2012 r2 in lab environment, , attempting set share command line. when issue command:

net share public=c:\users\public /grant:users,full
following back:

the syntax of command is: net share sharename ...etc...

as if had used invalid syntax. yet if go production windows 7 enterprise pc , type same command, functions perfectly. i've tried /grant:mydomain\myuser,full , /grant:myusergroup,full , /grant:mydomain\myusergroup,full , same result each time. different win7 enterprise machine?

the lab server configured domain controller , has smb1/cifs feature installed. yes, *can* configure share permissions remotely gui-enabled domain workstation/server, i'd know why failing command line.

i figured out; trying use net share within powershell. command works cmd.exe, fails if try use within powershell. simple solution, baffling same. know how make work in powershell?
