Domain Administrator password given out to many people and services/applications.
i have inherited domain previous admin had been bit liberal in giving out administrator account password different people. has setup several applications use that account instead of unique useraccounts. question how can find out locations using account sign in various machines , services?
i figure finding out source location logins able narrow search system account, make changes , disable generic administrator account , setup unique accounts each administrator.
thanks
hello,
there not way find them, have no idea searching. start services on servers, check if administrator used on service properties under services.msc , logonas. there create new accounts long strong passwords or if use windows server 2008 r2 take advantage of "managed service accounts":
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd548356(ws.10).aspx
for installed applications have rely in try , error. after finding/changing services , scripts, gpo startup/shutdown , logon/logoff scripts change administrator account password new one. realize failing.
or if don't know previous password disable domain administrator account, should result in errors or not running applications. try outs @ cob or @ weekend times, way users less involved.
