i have servers in sites in ad. seperate subnets too.  why clients jsut grabbing replica vs 1 closest it?

c:\dfsutil /view /root:\\ad-domian\dt

root name="\\ad-domian\dt" state="ok" timeout="300"
        sitecosting = "1" targetfailback = "1"
        target="\\srv-file\dt" state="online"  [site: (null)]
        target="\\srv-olivet\dt" state="online"  [site: (null)]

        link name="fitchdata" state="ok" timeout="1800"
                target="\\srv-fitch.ad-domian.com\data" state="online"  [site: (null)]
                target="\\srv-file.ad-domian.com\data" state="online"  [site: (null)]
                target="\\srv-fitch64\data" state="online"  [site: (null)]

hi,

please check active directory sites , services --- sites --- inter-site transports --- right click on ip, please check if cost of each site link setup correctly --- remote site should have larger number local site.

if issue still exists, try /insite parameter dfsutil restrict users access remote site.

users accessing dfs root replica in remote site
