delegated _msdcs zone

hello,

i have small query regarding delegated _msdcs zone.

in dns manager, expand server name, , expand forward lookup zones, click forward lookup zone active directory domain (for example: abc.local) ,the delegated _msdcs zone appears greyed out folder, right-click _msdcs zone, , click properties, on name servers tab have 1 server name mentioned whereas have 4 dns servers.

should there 1 dns server listed in delegated _msdcs zone if yes 1 should (local) ? or 4 dns servers entries should added ?

can please suggest.

thanks.

hi atulram,

the _msdcs delegation under abc.com useful when _msdcs.abc.com not stored in particular dns server , query _msdcs.abc.com was made dns server. name server in _msdcs properties needs hold entire zone of _msdcs.abc.com.

usually, name server in _msdcs properties pdc of domain, if want add other name servers hold entire zone "_msdc.abc.com", things ok too. if works well, we may keep original configuration.

the following post will understand _msdcs delegation, may click learn detailed information:
