DFS NameSpace on Windows 2003

hi,  lot of you, we trying remove our 2003 servers.

i had 3 dfs namespace servers sharing same root folder. 2 2003 dcs , other 2012 dc.  yesterday, i removed(dcpromo remove it) the 2003 server created root folder many years ago, but other 2 dcs running.

now many of users can't connect/login dfs namespace root folder.  current domain function level server 2003, dfs type domain level 2000.

how can fix this...?  removing 2012 server or 2003 server dfs namespace fix it...?

thanks,

tom...

hi tom,

from description, remoted , demoted dc without removing dfs namespace server.

in current situation assume have disconnect 2003 server. if so, in dfs management, delete namespace server , force ad replication inform other dcs. prompt error "if want forcibliy remove namespace server". if server removed domain, can safely remove it. if not, need use dfsutil.exe remove when online.

note: make sure have other working namespace servers before deleting.

in addition, think issue on client side should temporary issue. when cache in client side cleared automatically, new query not return unavailable namespace server.
