Stuck merge in progress

morning shut down exchange server, , started merging disks, problem is, it's not supposed have snapshot.

the current state is:

• the virtual machine shut down
• the hyper-v console says machine not have snapshots
• there snapshot file in machines's snapshot folder, last written @ 8:02 am, 3.5 hours ago
• the vm's vhd last written @ 8:02 well
• the disks merging ("merge in progress")
• there no disk activity on either of files, verfied resource monitor

i'm afraid try right because don't want damage server.  please suggest fix this?

john paul (who frequents forum well) suggests restarting hyper-v management service.
(the hyper-v services in  the parent partition , not reset hypervisor or other vms have running)
 
to clear strange issues this.
