A bit lost with KMS

hi all,
up until we've been using mak activation our server , desktop machines but, w7 , w2k8r2 around corner seems time move kms.  no problem far but, can't quite understand that, if install kms server happen:

  • will existing vista mak activated boxes reactivate using kms?
  • if don't 25 machines kms activated end of 30 day grace period first machine, machine go reduced functionality until reach critical mass?

these basic questions but, far, haven't seen obvious answer in documentation

q: existing vista mak activated boxes reactivate using kms?

 

a: yes, after install kms client key on mak client, can activate kms client.

 

for detailed steps, please refer “convert mak activation client kms client” section in following article:

to activate windows 7 , windows server 2008 r2, please install kb968912 on kms host first. after that, please start , stop service elevated cmd prompt:

 

net stop slsvc

net start slsvc

 

then windows 7 , windows server 2008 r2 kms clients can activated.

 

q: if don't 25 machines kms activated end of 30 day grace period first machine, machine go reduced functionality until reach critical mass?

 

a: must have @ least 25 kms clients (windows vista + windows server 2008) or none of them activated.

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

RDS 2012 r2 collections show black screen and then close

greetings,   have deployed 2 server 2012 r2 rds session collections (each 2 rdsh servers, , both going through same gateway/broker server), , during testing had no issues, rolled production, our users have been experiencing black screens when attempting log in, , remote desktop window closes (no actual login performed).   seems happen intermittently, , on both collections @ different times.  thought had solved disabling use of udp in rdp clients, wasn't permanent fix.   looking @ event log of 1 of affected servers, there seems event id 36 generated @ every logon attempt following message: an error occurred when transitioning csrconnected in response evcsrinitialized.
