Clustering : Data Mirroring

hi,

i have 2 2008 r2 servers clustered. need install software produce data.

my questions : data produced software available 2 servers ? need install software on both servers ?

in fact, need have whole disk mirroring, , not software mirroring...

any useful.

thanks in advance.

q. what cluster aware application?

a. a cluster-aware application application calls cluster apis determine context under running (such virtual server name etc.) , can failover between nodes high availability.

can applications not written cluster made highly available?

yes, server clusters provide plug-in environment allows resource dlls provide necessary control , health monitoring functions make existing applications highly available.

server clusters provide set of generic resource types can used make existing applications failover in cluster. in windows 2000 there 2 generic resource types:

generic application

allows application started, stopped , monitored cluster service

generic service

allows existing windows service started, stopped , monitored.

these generic services provide rudimentary health monitoring (for example, process started still valid process on system). not check application servicing requests since requires specific knowledge of application. generic resources can used make applications failover relatively quickly; however, provide more appropriate health check, microsoft recommends build application-specific resource dll.

in windows server 2003, have provided additional resource type (generic script) allows start/stop , health monitoring functions implemented scripts rather using c or c++. makes job of building application-specific resource plug-ins more manageable , easier.

q. how build cluster-aware application?

a. server clusters provides rich api set allows applications recognize , utilize cluster environment. these apis documented in platform sdk.

q. should use generic service or generic application resource make application highly available?

a. the generic services provide rudimentary health monitoring (for example, process started still valid process on system). not check application servicing requests since requires specific knowledge of application. generic resources can used make applications failover relatively quickly; however, provide more appropriate health check, microsoft recommends build application-specific resource dll.
