Win Storage Server 2008 SIS questions
hi,
we looking @ possibly buying several wss2008 boxes dell , place them @ each of our sites. reason want storage server need 2 technologies: sis , dfs. data replicating live 4 sites on large 3tb volume. according our calculations deduping volume drop around 1.1tb. after searching aren't sure couple of things:
1) plan mount iscsi lun our san on wss appliance , want use sis on volume. can turn on sis on type of volume?
2) since plan on replicating data, have info on how dfs-r handle replication of data? assume reparse points created sis things replicated if file in sis store. can point me detailed info or possibly first-hand experience on dfs w/ sis.
thanks much
-peter
so after bought servers can confirm that
1) yes can turn on sis on iscsi volumes
2) replicate entire file again rather bits assuming file isn't in cache.
