Server 2000 Domain services and directory migration

hi guys, have server 2000 2008r2 scenario, , wondering, installed 2000 using default paths , eg. c:\sysvol etc.. have use same paths when setting second dc or can use a different structure eg. d:\sysvol e:\syslog etc, , still have replication work usual?

basicly i'm trying best practice on new dc can migrate , then demote 2000, instead of using default paths have move paths after migration.

also, thinks wise or possible migrate certiciate services 2000 2008 r2? would better migrate services , leave ca last, uninstall, cleanup , reinistall on 2008 r2 dc?

thanks assistance guys ^_^

the best option update schema , install new windows 2008 dc additional dc.  here details:
