Printers stay in Remote Desktop Session

we have w2003 server running remote desktop/terminal services client machines have local printers.  whenever user disconnects or logs off server, printer stays in printer list in previous session.  in other words, when user logs off, printer stays.  the next logon same user assigned different session.  when goes print, has 2 printers showing client machine, session , last.  the way know solve reboot server, cleans out disconnected printers.  

 

is there can ensure disconnected client machine takes printer it?

this indication have 1 or more print drivers installed on server not compatible terminal services.  in order fix the problem need remove incompatible drivers.  may in start--settings--printers , faxes--file--server properties, drivers tab.  drivers downloaded manufacturer web site should considered potentially incompatible.

drivers small, no-frills, , whql-certified more ts compatible.

you have ability create print driver mapping file allow substitute compatible driver.  way use plain pcl driver (assuming printer understands pcl) shipped server 2003 instead of using driver downloaded manufacturer website.  example, use hp laserjet 4 driver shipped 2003.  article below explains necessary registry changes mapping file format:

in combination or instead of creating print driver mapping file may see if fallback printer driver capability works printers.  use fallback printer driver must enable via group policy setting.  setting listed on page below:

unfortunately printers not suitable use with ts (such host-based printers) and/or not have compatible drivers and/or incompatible of built-in drivers shipped 2003 (including fallback driver).  way use these printers using redirection mechanism purchase third-party ts universal printer driver solution such tricerat screwdrivers, or upgrade to server 2008 r2 , use rd easy print.

additionally recommend load uphclean on 2003 servers if have not done so.

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

0x300000d errors in Microsoft Remote Desktop client

we use rd connect home users office. @ server side remote desktop gateway configured on 2008r2 server. experience following:   for years worked fine, starting last year users apple macbook experienced connection errors after new version of microsoft remote desktop in app store , automatic update. after couple of weeks error disappaered when new updates released. since 6 8 weeks problem again. because don’t have macbook cannot reproduce problem.   starting couple of weeks samsung s6 experiencing problems, here version 8.1.37.135 installed, error displayed is: can’t connect tot remote pc because remote desktop gateway server temporaraily unavailable. try connecting later or contact network administrator assistance. error code  0x300000d   because has worked fine years expect issues on client can configuration error on gateway server.   who pin point real cause?   however, testing other rd gateway server works ok settings identically....
