In-place upgrade of W2k3 to W2k8 hangs

i having same issue on 2 different servers in our lab.

i ran forest , domain prep , installed w2k8 server , promoted it.  when went in-place upgrade of existing w2k3 dcs both seemed going fine until final startup.  both servers hanging @ startup screen , never progressing ctr+alt+del screen.  rebuilt 1 scratch , running w2k8 dc now.

any ideas before rebuild thesecond one?

the setupact.log file generated during upgrading indicates normal. moreover, notice have launched fresh setup. based on situation, it's due third-party applications, incompatible windows server 2008. in way, setupact.log not enough indicate root cause of 'hang' issue.

 

if possible, suggest performing clean setup avoid issue. otherwise, solidly troubleshoot kind of hang issue, need analyze crashed dump file. unfortunately, debugging beyond can in forum. therefore, please contact microsoft customer service , support (css) via telephone dedicated support professional can assist request. obtain phone numbers specific technology request please take @ web site listed below:

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

0x300000d errors in Microsoft Remote Desktop client

we use rd connect home users office. @ server side remote desktop gateway configured on 2008r2 server. experience following:   for years worked fine, starting last year users apple macbook experienced connection errors after new version of microsoft remote desktop in app store , automatic update. after couple of weeks error disappaered when new updates released. since 6 8 weeks problem again. because don’t have macbook cannot reproduce problem.   starting couple of weeks samsung s6 experiencing problems, here version 8.1.37.135 installed, error displayed is: can’t connect tot remote pc because remote desktop gateway server temporaraily unavailable. try connecting later or contact network administrator assistance. error code  0x300000d   because has worked fine years expect issues on client can configuration error on gateway server.   who pin point real cause?   however, testing other rd gateway server works ok settings identically....
