WDS/Imagex

apologize in advance if not right/best forum.

i'm trying use ws2008 wds deploy xp images.  i have .iso images work fine, apparently wds accepts .wim images.  is there way wds import iso images?

i've tried create .wim files existing xp image folders (specifically pe image), resulting image doesn't boot - apparently imagex adds folders or links files exist in vista, not xp.  i have pe image iso boots fine, wim image fails.

is possible use these tools deploy xp images?

thanks,
dean

hi,

we cannot use imagex create boot image based on windows xp installation disk. should use boot.wim file in windows vista or windows server 2008 disk. create , deploy install windows xp image, please refer following steps:

1.   install , configure wds server.

2.   add default windows 2008 boot image wds.

3.   create capture boot image , add boot image.

4.  create reference computer (install operating system, applications, , make other changes).

5.  sysprep.

6.  pxe boot reference computer capture image on boot screen , capture image (if non-pxe supported, use discover image boot).

7.  upload image wds server.

8.  clients can pxe boot , install windows (if non-pxe supported, use discover image boot).
