interflex

hi interflex,

this scenario called split zone, name same internally , externally.

as jorge indicated, requires registry change, has done on dcs. because altering "same parent" name in dns. record, many refer 'blank domain entry' (where don't need 'www' in front of it), however, in ad, it's referred ldapipaddress. record used dfs , gpos. it's record client machines query when getgpolist function runs retrieve gpos, among other things.

you can away not altering registry, require installing iis on each dc. in iis, can configure redirect under default website point www.abc.com. quick way handle it, don't condone or recommend iis on dc.

the third option have users live using www, instead of altering on dcs.

i have more on in blog, can read @ link below.
