DFSR - Am I 2003 or 2008 R2?
when reading articles this:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2010/03/31/tuning-replication-performance-in-dfsr-especially-on-win2008-r2.aspx
and looking @ information this:
- windows server 2003 r2: 9 largest files
- windows server 2008: 32 largest files (default registry)
- windows server 2008 r2: 32 largest files (default registry)
- windows server 2008 r2 read-only: 16 largest files
which level at? here's break down of setup.
1. windows 2003 (not r2) ad domain.
2. updated domain schema 47.
3. installed 2 2008 r2 members server.
4. setup dfs on both r2 machines , created replication between them. i'm replicating between r2 servers. however, choose namespace on 2003 machine wont ever change. storage servers will.
the replication working, sort of, need tweak staging area have files can reach on 120gb. i'm reading on best way , above article amazing covers each generation of dfs (other articles discuss dfs , never know gen talking about). yet i'm left asking myself, generation on? assume dfsr servers r2? or did bottleneck myself housing namespace on 2003?
thanks input!
hello jemlay,
as registry key takes effect on windows server 2008 r2 dfs member server in scenario, simple answer in generation of windows server 2008 r2: 32 largest files (default registry)
the replication tuning of dfsr depends on os version of dfsr replication member server, not related ad version.
hope helps.
