Windows 2008 R2 Clustering - MSDTC Client access point Limitations (IP)

i'm building windows cluster , adding msdtc.  client work wants ip address internal address, not external.  noticed when attempting install msdtc, under networks on client access point screen, network available external one.  there limitation or can force use ip network?  there 2 nics/adapters per node, 1 external , 1 internal heartbeat.

i'm not sure client's request feasible, , cannot find explicit information this.

if cluster's network setup "internal only" traffic, cluster prevent creating ip address resources on network.

to work around this, need change cluster's internal network properties , ensure "allow clients connect through network" checkbox selected.

hope helps.
