How to write a Active Directory Documentation


dear forum,

i find out if there proper way doing active directory documentation. have check , found following links:

but not supposed install visio nor other software server.

i have found other useful information below:

•explain computer, user, domain, , ou naming conventions.
 •describe ou hierarchy , reasoning behind it.
 •briefly describe main functions of group policy objects , why organized them did.
 •describe network numbering conventions , dhcp configuration, if applicable.
 •describe dns configuration.
 •describe windows firewall exceptions.
 •list the windows server roles , third-party software installed on each server.
 •note locations of active directory's fsmo roles.
 •describe organization's policy when add new user accounts or revoke existing user accounts.
 •describe organization's policies user restrictions (related gpo details above).
 •if responsible network well, provide building wiring diagram.

my question whether if there information worth documentating active directory. appreciate have been writing active directory let me know.

hi,

without network connection active directory topology diagrammer not contact gc read active directory structure. without visio the diagram of topology of domain not drawed neither.
