Migrate from 2003 sbs to 2008 r2 - several problems

i've searched , lots of discussions close not quite.  starting panic bit.

small company.  1 2003 sbs server.  used dc, file/print, dhcp, dns, rras.   not use exchange @ all.

new box, installed 2008 r2 twelve days ago.
- upgraded 2003 schema (adprep)
- joined 2008 domain
- dcpromo'd 2008 dc
- installed dhcp , dns on 2008 (turned services off 2003sbs)
- transfered fsmo roles
- added file server - transfered files.

did not demote 2003 yet , still have transfer rras new 2008 svr.  on weekend 2003 svr powered off due error "multiple domain controllers running 2003 sbs have been detected."  shuts old 2003 server down every 90 min.

old 2003 server powered down new 2008 server not seem authenticate logins.  can't open active directory or mmc tool associated ad.  users have authenticate each time access files on 2008.  there lots of errors in event logs have tried chasing down nothing quite right when following individual errors. 

in mmc ad sites says both 2003 , 2008 svrs global catalogs.  i'm thinking problem fear turning off old gc if makes matters worse.

missed something.  desparate help.

so noticed old svr has netlogon , sysvol shares (with little inside them) , new server not have these shares.  file structure on old 2003 looks like:
c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\domainname
 - do_not_remove_ntfrs_preinstall_directory    (nothing inside)
 - policies    (10 sub folders inside)
 - scripts (1 file inside:  sbs_login_script.bat.bak)
file structure on new 2008 looks like:
c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\domainname
 - do_not_remove_ntfrs_preinstall_driectory     (nothing inside)

i'm sure has problem not sure how resolve.

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

0x300000d errors in Microsoft Remote Desktop client

we use rd connect home users office. @ server side remote desktop gateway configured on 2008r2 server. experience following:   for years worked fine, starting last year users apple macbook experienced connection errors after new version of microsoft remote desktop in app store , automatic update. after couple of weeks error disappaered when new updates released. since 6 8 weeks problem again. because don’t have macbook cannot reproduce problem.   starting couple of weeks samsung s6 experiencing problems, here version 8.1.37.135 installed, error displayed is: can’t connect tot remote pc because remote desktop gateway server temporaraily unavailable. try connecting later or contact network administrator assistance. error code  0x300000d   because has worked fine years expect issues on client can configuration error on gateway server.   who pin point real cause?   however, testing other rd gateway server works ok settings identically....
