Default Domain Policy change not showing up.

hi,  have a 2008 dc in mixed mode, , editing gpos 2008 dc.  have updated schema, before installed 2008 dc.

i have been trying clean group policies, , having little difficulty.  there setting in default domain policy: user config\windows settings\remote installation services\client installation wizard options has custom setup, restart setup , tools disabled.  put not configured.  choose edit policy, set these not configured , hit apply , ok.  go in edit them again, , disabled.

any ideas on why not taking affect?

hi,

based on test, found settings define on user configuration\windows settings\remote installation services\client installation wizard options reflected oscfilter.ini file under %systemroot%\sysvol\sysvol\domain neme\policies\{31b2f340…}\user\microsoft\remoteinstall.

if enable automatic setup , custom setup options in remote installation services, content in oscfilter.ini this:

[choices]

osauto=1

custom=1

in addition, default, group policy object editor snap-in , gmpc read , write changes domain controller designated pdc operations master domain. can change default behavior via group policy under user configurations\administrative templates\ system\group policy\group policy domain controller selection.

if "group policy domain controller selection" set 'not configure' or 'disable', group policy object editor snap-in , gmpc contact pdc operations master when manipulate group policy.

so, if gp set 'not configure' or 'disable', please check content of oscfilter.ini on pdc role @ first. dose reflect correctly define in gmpc?

(if not sure 1 hosts pdc role, follow method published in below article locate pdc.

how view , transfer fsmo roles in windows server 2003

if not, please manually configure , see if settings of remote installation services updated.
