Newbie questions.....

i have been using whs v1, whs 2011 decided install server 2012 essential. no regrets since it, looks familiair have few questions:

1) serverfolders create can set option "stop sharing" not possible standard folders. possible hide the standard serverfolders company, etc. hide of them when clients access the share.

2) clients joined server on workgroup level not able access user share. possible if join domain?

3) server not visible in network tree in explorer. if open shared folders via connector show up. have change of settings server show up?

for rest pleased, added users, setup backup, configured remote web access , working.

1) haven't found way literally stop sharing default server folders, , in honesty haven't yet had need. did light poking around , seems can go folder properties in dashboard, , on sharing tab, set access level each user no access, , check "hide folder remote web access..." checkbox. stop users accessing share, , hide in rwa. still visible via shared folders tab on client dashboard (as a network share), however not accessible.

2) client machines can access wse shares in workgroup mode, however, either have local wse server (on same subnet), or connected wse server either sstp vpn or directaccess if connecting remotely. once da or vpn connection established, you can access shares windows share. users can access file shares via rwa non domain-joined machine.

3) see server in network tree if connected via vpn, directaccess, or if client machine on same local network wse server, , of course, network discovery have enabled on client in scenario.
