Replica mode
i'm considering setting patching scheme using wsus replica mode. use replica mode 2 servers...my questions follows..
1. in replica mode - i have all client computers checking in upstream server via group policy. downstream server inherit group policies and computer information upstream server? being replicated?
2. in event upstream server dies how client systems check in withe secondary server? or automatically failover?
hi,
1. in replica mode - have client computers checking in upstream server via group policy. downstream server inherit group policies , computer information upstream server? being replicated?
i think should start http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939820(ws.10).aspx.
if have client computers checking in upstream server via group policy, what's meaning of setting replica server?
a wsus replica server inherits update approvals , computer groups upstream wsus server. wsus deployment uses replica servers typically consists of single wsus root server manages updates, , 1 or more downstream replica wsus servers.
in short, all management jobs taken upstream server, replica server limited except assigning computer group, reporting, syncing, etc.
2. in event upstream server dies how client systems check in withe secondary server? or automatically failover?
if upstream dies, your downstream server lose connectivity upstream, clients not able download updates approved on upstream. install new upstream server, , point downstream upstream, and make resync function downstream normally.
