hello,

yes, andrew said right on target.

there easy way achieve requirement if have windows server 2008 full installation box same hardware current one.

you force nic negotiate @ 100/full duplex on full installation windows server 2008 machine, , export following registry key server , import key server core machine.

hklm\system\currentcontrolset\enum\pci\ven_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

under pci folder, there several keys begin ven. each ven key, click key, click subkey, , observe device description on right side of registry editor. export registry key device description pertains network interface card.

here example of device description pertains network adapter:

devicedesc:reg_sz:3com etherlink xl 10/100 pci tx nic (3c905b-tx)

you open registry edit console on server core following steps:

1.    press alt-ctrl-delete

2.    click start task manager

3.    click file -> new task

4.    enter regedit , press enter.

note: serious problems might occur if modify registry incorrectly, please refer following kb article registry before modify it:
