Windows Server 2003 requires hard reboot every 2 weeks
hello,
couldn't seem find forum server 2003, right spot.
i relatively new client reporting has reboot server every 2 weeks (usually wednesday mornings).
i've gone through event logs past couple of months. exception of sql database called bid2win fails quite often, there little no errors or warnings in system or application logs.
i have been watching memory , processes on past couple of weeks , have not seen out of ordinary such memory leaks, high page faults, running low on resources, etc...the exception ultravnc had large number of page faults (10x higher other processes), other fields appear normal.
my next best guess running every 2nd week, have not yet been able locate might be. scheduled tasks has entries syncbackpro runs every day, without issue.
i guess question else should doing try determine cause of these crashes?
server information:
- windows server 2003 (sp2) - latest updates of last night
- xeon 2ghz / 3.5gb ram
- 75% free space on c / 95% free on e
- cpu utilization stays under 10%
- pf usage less 1gb
- dhcp/dns/acronis true image/avg9/avgm/few lob applications
- syncbackpro backup runs 3 jobs each day, successful or exceptions
since server updated/rebooted last night, crash should have happened morning (keeping in line pattern) did not happen.
all can think of right now. please let me know if more info required.
thanks,
ben
hi,
checking following may troubleshoot issue:
· did mouse , keyboard respond when issue occurred?
· did computer respond when issue occurred? connect share folder on server?
· did server still hang if disconnect network?
· did task manager show particular process taking significant cpu cycles?
as have checked event log , performance monitor no useful information found, may consider generating dump file when issue occurs again:
windows feature lets generate memory dump file using keyboard
