Upgrade from 10162 to 10166 - Networking disappeared
just upgraded 10162 (iso install because of multitude of troubles attempting upgrade 10130) 10166 , dead in water cannot connect internet. digging problem reveals "there might problem network adapter driver". device manager shows driver "rt640x64.sys" realtek adapter , experiencing no problems. uninstalling , rebooting no avail there no other drivers loaded on computer. we're in catch 22 situation.
it's interesting troubleshooting leads vpn sector of settings instead of directly ethernet setting (mine wired, not wireless have no net card). ideas gratefully received.
do have motherboard cd? if may try locate realtek driver there -or,if has come different cd.
alternatively, you need alternative temporary internet connection download latest updates (realtek adapter driver) windows update. if connected internet uninstall current network driver device manager , reboot. once restart, windows try detect adapter driver , updated via windows update.
