Remote Desktop Disconnects from 2 Minutes of Idle Time

deployed windows server 2012 (not r2) remote desktop services.  users complaining if go idle (not move mouse or type) 2 minutes disconnected rds.  in collection configuration turned on enable automatic reconnection, , users no longer getting disconnected while receiving messages servers reconnecting , reconnects, again within 2minute idle time.  in gateway logs seeing user getting disconnected , reconnected every 2 minutes.  this ok enable automatic reconnection, session timeouts ignored because every time reconnect takes place counters reset, if have 30 minute idle session limit set, 8 hour session limit , 2 hours end disconnected session, user never gets disconnected, have session open 24 hours keeps reconnecting.  i've tried setting keep alive interval via group policy.   there setting prevent 2 minute idle timeout?

not solution seems help, less users complaining now.

discovered 3 solutions

1) uninstall kb2923545 on client machine

2) force users use rpc-http creating dword (32bit) “rdgclienttrasport” value of 1 under "hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\terminal server client" in registry.

3) on server side set group policy settings session timeouts , enable keep alives.

computer config > admin templates > windows components > remote desktop services > remote desktop session host > connections (enable keep alive)

computer config > admin templates > windows components > remote desktop services > remote desktop session host > session limits (set desired, per ms documentation, gp superceeds settings in server manager)

best of luck!
