SMTP and Windows Event Log services won't start

this problem started few days ago after installing windows updates.  running windows server 2008 r2 host our sharepoint 2007.  noticed weren't receiving documents sent via e-mail document libraries.  after checking few things noticed smtp service set automatic wasnt started.  tried starting , received following error.

 

windows not start simple mail transfer protocol (smtp) service. 

error 0x800cc801: 0x800cc801

 

i went check event viewer for errors got error message: event log serivce unavailable. verify service running.

so checked service, set automatic isn't started.  when attempting start service received error:

 

windows couldnot start windows event log service.

error 4201:  instance name passed not recognized valud wmi data provider.

 

i've googled these error messages can't find connects them.  information appreciated.  if more information needed let me know , i'll best provide it.

i able resolve issue manually resetting ownership on c drive.  after reboot services started , in business. 

thanks again help, pointed me in right direction.

Failed to query the results of bpa xpath

0x300000d errors in Microsoft Remote Desktop client

we use rd connect home users office. @ server side remote desktop gateway configured on 2008r2 server. experience following:   for years worked fine, starting last year users apple macbook experienced connection errors after new version of microsoft remote desktop in app store , automatic update. after couple of weeks error disappaered when new updates released. since 6 8 weeks problem again. because don’t have macbook cannot reproduce problem.   starting couple of weeks samsung s6 experiencing problems, here version 8.1.37.135 installed, error displayed is: can’t connect tot remote pc because remote desktop gateway server temporaraily unavailable. try connecting later or contact network administrator assistance. error code  0x300000d   because has worked fine years expect issues on client can configuration error on gateway server.   who pin point real cause?   however, testing other rd gateway server works ok settings identically....
